Celtic Woman Ambassador Blog

On March 9th, I had the great pleasure of working and attending, Celtic Woman, as a DPAC Ambassador! On this tour, Celtic Woman is celebrating their 20th anniversary! With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, this show is an amazing way to start festivities and to have fun.
When I first arrived, I signed in and entered the Presidents Club Lounge for a team meeting, where volunteers, staff members, my 2 fellow ambassadors and I received our deployments for the night. For this particular show I was given the opportunity to work Curb to Seat, with two of DPAC’s lovely volunteers. Throughout the night, I was stationed at the outdoor drop-off booth and helped accommodate audience members' needs. If an audience member needed wheelchair assistance, we would greet them at the drop off, help them into a wheelchair, and take them directly to their seat inside DPAC. With this assignment, I got the opportunity to engage with audience members prior to the show, and connect through our excitement for Celtic Woman!
Once I was wrapped up with my assignment, and had gotten everyone to their seats, I signed out, grabbed my complimentary snack card from guest services, and met up with the other ambassadors to find our seats.
And then it was showtime! The first act of the show was incredible, beginning with performances of more familiar songs like “Rainbow by Kacey Musgraves” and “America the Beautiful”. The adaptations of these songs with the classic Irish instruments was unimaginable.
Following intermission, the performers dove into more traditional Irish music. They sang songs including the classic Irish ballad “Danny Boy”, and had sections dedicated to beautiful performances of Irish dancing. Portions of the show which highlighted their insanely talented bagpipe player and violinist did not go unnoticed either.
Celtic Woman put on an, almost 2 hour long, amazing performance to Durham audiences. Their incredible musicality and audience engagement made it a truly unforgettable night. Celtic Woman is on tour all over the United States through April 2025, and, after tonight's performance, is a must see show for a night filled with fun, Irish culture!
