Derek Hough Ambassador Blog

Tonight I shadowed some staff on dpac’s marketing crew before watching an awesome show by Derek Hough!  I had a wonderful time, and learned a lot! First I met Candice , who gave me the rundown of what DPAC marketing team does and how it functions. We talked about social media and brainstormed ideas of how to best engage with the communities in order to get every seat filled in the house. Then I walked with another awesome person named Caitlin. She taught me the best way to engage with guests and how to start conversations. We took pictures of families and two guests even danced for us and we were able to put it on the DPAC story. Caitlin answered all my questions and marketing how you get into that field, I didn’t just gain marketing tips , I gained life advice about college and the performing arts industry (Caitlin is now one of my new favorite people).

After I finished my shift with Caitlin , me and my friend and fellow dpac ambassador Nate sat down with an awesome dance show by Derek Hough (former Dancing with the Stars judge). As a dancer this show blew my mind and inspired me as a choreographer. Getting to see this show was a phenomenal experience. Aside from the fact that I was excited that me and Hayley Hough share the same name. I was exposed to so many concepts , and genres of dance that I had never seen live before! In the show there were a lot of references to things that are popular in the dance community and it made me feel really seen as a dancer. By the end of the show I could tell that Derek Hough loved the dpac crowd and I’m happy Durham continued to be the lovely place that it is. I cannot WAIT for my next DPAC assignment.
