Fortune Feimster Ambassador Blog

By Ipsi

This Saturday, the North Carolinian native Fortune Feimster gave Durhan Performing Arts Center a visit and I had the pleasure of being able to watch the show and help out the DPAC staff before it. My pre-show responsibility as an ambassador was Elevator Assistance. The title of the job is very indicative of the responsibility it holds: helping people with the elevator. We also passed out flyers informing the audience to please be quiet during the show and that photos and videos are strictly prohibited. As an ambassador, we have a volunteer or staff member we shadow for our assignment and the volunteer I was assigned to was truly amazing. She was so welcoming, helped me a lot, and was very personable.

After my assignment, I got to sign out and redeem my complimentary concession (I got a pretzel as always). The show included an opener, Sophie Buddle, a Canadian comedian who you may have seen on the Tonight Show amongst other things. Her 20-minute opening set was incredibly funny with jokes about her Canadian family, adjusting to life in America, and her “dumb” boyfriend. Now, if you have yet to hear of Fortune…honestly, I would be greatly surprised. Fortune is a writer, actor, and comedian with a vast filmography. As I mentioned before, she is a North Carolina native. She was born in Charlotte and went to school in Raleigh. Because of her connection to North Carolina, the audience tonight felt very connected to her.

Her mom was even there along with many of her teachers and classmates! I heard the loudest audience I think ever at DPAC tonight and their energy was infectious. Thank you so much Fortune for dropping by DPAC and I hope to see you again!
