Funny Girl Ambassador Blog

Hello gorgeous!
Last night I saw my first show as a DPAC Ambassador! I got to see not only a fantastic Broadway musical, but also DPAC’s amazing marketing department! About an hour before showtime, I met with DPAC Marketing Assistant Alison, and we got to tour the marketing office. I got to see the press table — where members of the press can pick up their complimentary tickets —, and interact with guests in lobby for the DPAC instagram account. Everyone I met was so fun and friendly, and I had such a great time talking marketing and Broadway with Alison, Emma, and Caitlin.
About ten minutes before showtime, all the ambassadors made our way into the seating area, where we were met with the dazzling lights of Funny Girl. Funny Girl is a musical loosely based the life of Fanny Brice (1891-1951). It follows Fanny as she rises to stardom, and, along the way, finds love. Not only are Funny Girl’s big, belt heavy solo’s and large ensemble numbers fantastic, it also manages to provide an emotional, thought-provoking piece of theatre that is as timeless in 2023 as it was in 1964.
The show was fantastic, and the entire cast was amazing, but without a doubt, Katerina McCrimmon (Fanny Brice) stole the show with her jaw dropping vocals and amazing vocal range. Supporting McCrimmon and her Lea Michelle rivaling voice is the immensely talented Izaiah Montaque Harris (Eddie), who wowed the audience with his incredible tap skills, as well as Stephen Mark Lukas (Nick Arnstein), whose vocal and emotional depth was very impressive. Not to mention the ensemble and other supporting actors, who truly made Funny Girl a special show.
