Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone™ in Concert Ambassador Blog

By Ellie

On January 26th, I had the privilege to work as a DPAC Ambassador for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert! When I first arrived, I signed in and entered the Presidents Club Lounge for a team meeting, where volunteers, staff members, my 3 fellow ambassadors and I received our deployments for the night.

For this particular show I was given the opportunity to work with DPAC’s wonderful House Manager and Director of Audience & Event Services, Claire Myers. Throughout the night, I shadowed Claire as she opened the lobbies, accommodated audience members' needs, opened the house, made sure everyone's experience was as great as possible, and ran around backstage to make sure the pre-show wave went smoothly. I also had the opportunity to break away from Claire, and observe the volunteers and staff members working. I was given two volunteer star cards, and one exemplary service card to distribute, with the names of extraordinary DPAC representatives written on them. This can include services like being eager to step in to help audience members, treating customers with kindness and respect, and positively impacting the image of DPAC in our community. Once I have written names on the cards and given them back to Claire, they will be kept and distributed during the next team meeting.

Right before being dismissed, I got the chance to complete one final task with Claire. I had the opportunity to go backstage to chime the 5 minute warning throughout all of the lobbies, which was a surreal experience. Once I was wrapped up with my assignment, I signed out, grabbed my complimentary snack card from guest services, and met up with the other ambassadors to find our seats.

And then it was showtime! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert was truly one of the greatest shows I have seen at DPAC. The orchestra completely blew me away from the first note they played, and not to mention the immense amounts of nostalgia it brought back to hear songs from my childhood favorite movie played live. When the movie ended, and the orchestra took their final bow, the energy in the room was ecstatic. Every audience member had a smile on their face, and truly looked like they didn’t want to leave. DPAC is home to so many touring hit shows and, after this weekend of 3 completely sold out nights, I wouldn’t be surprised if Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert climbed to the top of that list!
