DPAC Ambassador at The Illusionists Blog

What's better than going out on a Saturday Night? Spending the night out at DPAC of course! Luckily for me and some of my fellow ambassadors we got to do just that on Saturday November 23rd at The Illusionists Magic of the Holidays.
After our pre show meeting we went off to our assignments. I got the pleasure of working the lobby map alongside Toni. The DPAC is my go to place to see any show so my job was pretty easy pointing people to where they needed to go. I got to see lots of people in festive gear and a few people even dressed like magicians! After my shift I caught up with my fellow ambassadors and got some pre-show snacks and smoothies. We headed up to our seats and waited patiently for the show to start.
As the show began, the magicians appeared with a smoke bomb cloud and I could already tell this show was going to blow our minds! The magicians came out in the audience and even did magic in the isles with special assistants. Tons of kids were picked to go onstage and assist with some magical tricks, even some adults were forced to go up and assist which was hilarious to see. The most impressive act of the evening was The Mentalist, Chris Cox. He could read your mind straight from your seat! At the beginning of the show some people were invited to write what they wanted him to do onstage at the show and place it in a box that was rung up to the top of the curtain. Towards the middle of Act 2 the box was rung down to the stage untouched since it was rung up high. Without opening the letters from the people he read the mind of whoever was on the front of the envelope and interacted with them from their seat. One woman thought in her mind Chris dressed as R2D2 from Star Wars which seemed impossible, until it was possible. At the end of his act he took off his regular clothes to reveal an R2D2 outfit! The crowd went absolutely wild and my jaw was on the floor!
This show was absolutely incredible and the magic felt like true magic! Don't try to figure out how they do it unless you wanna give yourself a headache. This was a perfect way to kick off the holiday season with some true Christmas magic.
