DPAC Ambassadors at The Life and Music of George Michael Blog
By Aidan
This Wednesday, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to see a stunning performance of one of the music world’s many legends, George Micheal. On top of that, two of my fellow ambassadors and I were able to learn directly under Emma Tonnemacher, DPAC’s resident marketing manager for Broadway shows. This was a night of unforgettable music and learning. Want to hear more about it? Have Faith and keep reading!
The night started with a special pre-show soundcheck. It was fantastic being able to listen and interact with the performers so close to the stage. After this, we got a chance to peek into the offices of DPAC, where we met the wonderful Candice Terrell, the senior director of marketing and sales. During this time Emma gave us some insight into the marketing department’s functions and interactions with the rest of the theater. We spent our remaining time interacting with guests, taking pictures of the lovely DPAC scenery, and learning some fun facts about Wham! and George Micheal’s amazing solo career.
Now for the main attraction, and I’ve got to say this group came out swinging from the start. Connor Antico does a phenomenal job as young George Micheal, with his youthful gusto and awesome dance moves. His counterpart, Craig Winberry, kept the show alive and energetic with his mastery of George Micheal’s later hits from his solo career. Now it would be rude of me not to mention the spectacular band backing up the two wonderful performers on stage. We were allowed backstage, and I was able to see them in their element; I have never seen people enjoy their time on stage more than this group. Near the show’s end I noted the utter joy radiating from the crowd; their dancing and cheering helped me realize the effect George Micheal had on the world. Not only was it a night of great music, it was a celebration of unity and the legacy of a legend who left us too soon.
