Performing Arts Showstoppers at DPAC
Introducing the Performing Arts Showstoppers at DPAC.
This new community program is for Triangle area high school students who both love smiling and saying hello AND seeing Broadway at DPAC’s biggest shows.
For the 2024 / 2025 season, DPAC’s guests will be welcomed at DPAC’s entry doors by members of Performing Arts Showstoppers at DPAC. Showstoppers provide guests with a genuine and kind greeting as they arrive at DPAC for the very biggest Broadway shows on tour.
The Showstopper program offers students the following:
- Volunteer service hours for college bound applications and resumes.
- Excellent customer service experience at one of the top-five performing arts centers in America.
- Access to experience Broadway at DPAC’s hit Broadway shows.
- Invitation to special events and educational opportunities including chances to speak with the cast and crew of select touring productions,
- Plus, peer social gatherings with likeminded fans of Broadway and theatre.
Each month, Showstoppers will self-select the schedule for the performances that work with their pre-existing school, family and other commitments. This “welcoming guests role” takes place for the 90-minutes before showtime. Once the performance starts, Showstoppers will be free to take their specially assigned seats to see the show and experience firsthand, the talents and stagecraft of the very biggest Broadway shows on tour.
The inspiration for this program comes from the Durham Wayfinders at DPAC, a City of Durham volunteer program where members share their time and talents in the spirit of helping everyone feel welcome at DPAC.
We invite you to apply and be part of this service and education program for the coming nine-months. Program logistics and specifics will be provided to students selected as Showstoppers during a mandatory program orientation on Monday, August 26 (Note: All Showstoppers must attend this orientation in order to participate).
